WHO WE ARE

At a Glance

Inspired by the dance style of Beat Ya Feet, Beat Ya Feet Academy began in 2021 when three members of the Beat Ya Feet community decided to organize and make an impact. Pretty quickly, something that was just a thought evolved into a full-fledged training platform.

The BYF Academy teachers are energetic, compassionate and have an innate ability to motivate persons of all ages. I observed students, their parents and staff eager to learn choreography while anticipating the next step. I would recommend BYF to youth-serving organizations, schools, after school programs and individuals, as the program offers many valuable lessons and experiences.

Boys and girls clubs of greater Washington

John Pearson has now served and provided as arts ambassadors for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington for almost 10 year.  As an Arts Ambassador and program  he has provided choreography for our summer camps, daily arts education programs and full musicals that have debuted at the Kennedy Center, THEARC and holiday events at our clubs.  John  and his BYF academy staff brings a tenacity to choreography and the  "Beat Ya Feet"  dance style that invites every youth to participate.  I'm thrilled  that BYFA programming is based on sharing this hip-folk dance that is indigenous to DC with organizations and schools.  ...and most importantly, children love it!!!
